Question
Answer
Graph   To draw, or plot, the points named by certain numbers or ordered pairs on a number line or coodinate plane.
🗑
Slope   The ratio of the change in the y-coordinates(rise) to the corresponding change in the x-coordinates (run) as you move from one point to another along a line.
🗑
y-intercept   The coordinate at which a graph intersects the y-axis.
🗑
Domain   The set of the first numbers of the ordered pairs in a relation. x
🗑
Range   The set of second ordered pairs in a relation. y
🗑
Independent variable   The variable in a function whose value is subject to choice.
🗑
Dependent variable   The variable in a relation whose value depends on the value of the independent variable.
🗑
Relation   A set of ordered pairs.
🗑
Function   A relation in which each element of the domain is paired with exactly one element of the range.
🗑
Increasing   Going up
🗑
Decreasing   Going down.
🗑
Multiplicative Property of Zero   For any number a,the product of a and 0 is 0. a x 0 = 0 x a = 0.
🗑
Additive Identity   For any number a, the sum of a and 0 is a. a + 0 = 0 + a = a
🗑
Commutative Property   The order in which you add or multiply numbers does not change their sum or product. a + b = b + a and a x b = b x a
🗑
Associative Property   The way you group three or more numbers when adding or multiplying does not change their sum or product.
🗑
Distributive Property   For any numbers a, b, and c.a(b + c) = ab + ac and (b + c)a = ba + ca and a(b - c) = ab - ac and (b - c)a = ba - ca.
🗑
Solution   A replacement value for the variable in an open sentence.
🗑
Standard Form of a linear equation   Ax + By = C, where A is greater than or equal to 0, and A and B are not both zero.
🗑
Slope - intercept form   The equation of the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
🗑
Multiplicative Identity   For any number a, the product of a and 1 is a. a x 1 = 1 x a = a.12 x 1 = 1 x 12
🗑
Multiplicative Inverse   For every number a/b, where a, b does not equal 0, there is exactly one number b/a such that the product of a/b and b/a is 1.
🗑
Reflexive Property   Any quantity is equal to itself. For any number a, a = a. 7 = 7 2 + 3 = 2 + 3
🗑
Symmetric Property   If one quantity equals a second quantity, then the second quantity equals the first. For any numbers a and b, if a = b, then b = aIf 9 = 6 + 3, then 6 + 3 = 9.
🗑
Reciprocals   Two numbers whose product is 1. Also called multiplicative inverses.
🗑
Transitive Property   If one quantity equals a second quantity and the second quantity equals a third quantity, then the first quantity equals the third quantity. For any numbers a, b, and c, if a = b and b = c then a = c.If 5 + 7 = 8 + 4 and 8 + 4 = 12, then 5 + 7 = 12.
🗑
Substitution Property   A quantity may be substituted for its equal in any expression. If a = b , then a may be replaced by b in any expression. If n = 15, then 3n = 3 x 15.
🗑
x-intercept   A coordinate at which a graph intersects the x-axis.
🗑
