Answer
What is sound?   Sound is a from of energy that we can hear. It is the vibration of air that we hear.
🗑
How does sound travel?   In waves, spreading out over the distance they travel.
🗑
What is an echo and how are they produced?   An echo is a reflected sound. They are produced by the original sound hitting something like a wall and the sound waves returning to you.
🗑
Which is faster the speed of sound or the speed of light?   Speed of light.
🗑
How do we hear sound?   The vibration in the air move a diaphragm in our ear which in turn vibrates bones in our ear (hammer, anvil, stirrup) to product sound we hear.
🗑
What is sound measured in?   Decibels (dB).
🗑
Why should we wear ear protection if listening to sounds about 70dB?   Sounds over 70dB can damage our ears and reduce the ability to hear clearly later in life.
🗑
Explain why you see light and then hear sound as in thunder and lightning or at a fireworks display.   light travels far faster than sound (light ~300,000m/s, sound ~340m/s) so you see the light before you hear the sound.
