Acid   Turns blue litmus red. Sour taste. pH of 0 to 6. Form hydrogen ions (H+) in water solution. ex: vinegar, citrus fruits, hydrochloric acid. Always produce water and a salt when they react with bases.

Base   Turns red litmus blue. Bitter taste. pH of 8 to 14. Form hydroxide ions (OH-) in water solution. ex: many soaps, Tums and other antacids, baking soda. Always produce water and a salt when they react with acids.

Indicator   a substance that changes color in the presence of an acid and a base

Corrosive   destroys and damages other substances with which it comes into contact.

Hydrogen Ion   the positively charged ion of hydrogen (H+) formed in all aqueous solutions (something mixed with water) of acids.
