Counting Numbers (Natural Numbers) | The consecutive, non-decimal numbers starting with 1 and increasing without end. |
Whole Numbers | The counting numbers with zero included. |
Intergers | The whole numbers and their opposites in sign or the counting numbers with their opposite in sign with zero included. |
Rational Numbers | Numbers that can be expressed as the ratio of two integers. If expressed in decimal form, they either have a finite number of decimal places or they repeat forever. |
Domain | All of the values of the independent variable that produce a real value for the dependent variable or all values of the independent variable for which there is an ordered pair that plots a part of the graph. |
Range | All values of the dependent variable that are produced by values in the domain. |
Interval Notation | A method for stating a continuous set of values that states the bottom value and the top value of the continuous set of values using parentheses and brackets to indicate whether the end points are included or not included. |
Factors | Terms or expressions being multiplied together. Each of the amounts being multiplied is a factor. |
Term | Numbers and variables raised to powers joined by the operations of multiplicaton and/or division. |
Monomial | A single term of a polynomial. Number and variables raised only to powers that are positive integers joined by the operations of mltiplication and/or division. |

Polynomial | An expression consisting of only monomial terms. Multiple monomial terms joined by the operations of addition and/or subtraction. |
Absolute Value | Absolute value makes a negative number positive. Positive numbers and 0 are left unchanged. |
Replacement Set | Set of all possible values of the variable. |
Sketch | Rough drawing of a graph with atleast the x-intercept, y-intercept, vertex, and two other poins are labeled with a title. |
Combinations | A selection of objects from a collection. Order is irrelevant. |
Compositions | Combining two functions by substituting one function's formula in place of each x in the other function's formula. |
Deterministic | System in which each input has exactly one output. |
