DBE Developmental bilingual education

Two-way two groups learning each other’s language as a second language
SES Low SES Socioeconomic Status. Low socioeconomic status.
Language Minority refers to native speakers of any language other than English
LEP Limited English Proficient. Term used for the number who have not yet attained an adequate level of English to succeed in an English-only program (ELL is another term used for this). These students are learning ESL (ELL are learning ESL as well.)
SDAIE Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English. It consists of research-based strategies for teaching content areas to English Language Learners.
