QuestionAnswer
Antagonist A main charater who goes agaunst the protagonist ( the main character who carries the action) usually the bad guy
Flashback when a character recalls a memory or some event that happened in the past
Foreshadowing a hint in the story that something may happen in the future
imagery wirds or phrases in the story that appeal to one or more of the five senses (taste,touch,sight,smell,sound)
Irony when the oppisite happens of what you would expect
Metaphor direct comparsion of two different things ( Example Her hair is silk)
Narration the telling of a story or event
Protagonist the main character who most of the action happens to
Simile a comparison between two diffrent things using "like" or "as"( Example: Her hair is like silk)
Symbol Something that stands for something else
Tone the author's attitude toward the subject of his.her story (sad,funny,mysterious,sarcastic,etc)
exposition introduces the characters and the setting
Allusion a casual reference to a famous or historical or literary figure or event
Alliteration the repetition of initial consonant sounds (ex: Sally sells seashells by the seashore)
Assonance the repetition of vowel sounds (ex: "the bows qlided down the coast")
