| Cardiomegaly | abnormal enlargement of the heart. Cardio = heart. Megaly = enlarged |
| Aneurysm | a balloon-like enlargement of an artery wall |
| Myocardial infarction | common term for heart attack |
| Phlebitis | inflammation of a vein. |
| Embolus | a foreign object circulating in the blood that obstructs a blood vessel. Examples include air or a detached blood clot. |
