Question | Answer |
1. What are the 3 states of matter? | The 3 states of matter are Solids, liquids and gases. |
2. What do Solids do when they are transported? | Solids stay in one place, unless they are pushed or pulled. |
3. What do they measure the volume of an object? | They measure it in cubic centimetres. |
4. Can Solids flow, change their volumes and are they really dense? | No, they cannot flow, cannot change their volumes and solids are often dense. because they are hard. |
5. What are liquids often carried in? | Liquids are often carried in tankers so it makes it easy for them to be pumped into and out of tankers. |
6. Describe two properties of liquids. | 1. Liquids dont change their volumes. 2.They are quite dense but usually less dense than solids. |
7. Where are gases stored in? | Gases are stored in tightly sealed containers because they flow very easily. |
8.What is a theory? | It is a way of explaining why things happen as they do. A scientific theory can always be tested against the evidence. |
9. Do the particles of a solid vibrate? | Yes they do but they are fixed in their places so they can not move past each other, thats why solids keep their shapes. |
10. What happens to the particles in a liquid? | The particles in a liquid are close to one another but can move past each other. Thats why liquids flow. |
11. What is a prediction? | It is what you will think during an experiment. |
12. Does a gas has a fixed shape? | No, because they are easy to squash because there is a lot of space between the particles. |
13. What is diffusion? | Diffusion is when the particles spread and mix with each other without anything moving them. |
14. What causes pressure in a container of gas? | It causes by the moving particles bump into each other and hit the sides of the container. |
15. What is air pressure? | Air pressure is the air particles around us that put pressure on us. |
