Question | Answer |
Cell | A basic unit of structure and function of living things. |
Structure | What an organism is made of and how it is out together. |
Function | Processes that enable an organism to stay alive and reproduce. |
Cell Theory | -All living things are made of cells. -Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in living things. -All cells are produced form other cells. |
Compound Microscope | Two lens, one lens magnifies the other lens' magnification. (convex lens) |
Resolution | Sharpens of an image. |
Electron microscope | Uses a beam of electrons instead of light to produce a magnified image. |
Organelles | Tiny cell structures that carry out specific function. |
Cell Wall | A plant cell wall protects and supports the cell. |
Cell Membrane | Controls what substances go into and out of a cell. |
Nuclease | Control center of the cell. |
Nuclear Envelope | Membrane that protects the nucleus. |
Nucleolus | Makes ribosomes creates them. |
Mitochondria | “Powerhouse” of the cell, they convert foods energy to energy that cell can use to carry out its functions. |
Chromatin | Strands that contain genetic materials that instructs the cell how to grow. |
Endoplasmic Reticulum | Passageways that carry proteins and other materials from one part of the cell to another. |
Ribosomes | Small grain like body that produce proteins. |
Golgi Bodies | Receives proteins and other materials and other package and send them to other parts of the cell. |
Chloroplast | Captures energy from sunlight and uses to produce food for plant cells. |
Vacuoles | A large water filled sac, stores food and other materials. |
Lysosomes | “Clean up crew” round structures containing chemicals that breakdown materials. |
