Rotation Axis | Any imaginary line through the center of a body about with the body spins. |
Celestial Sphere | An imaginary sphere surrounding the Earth, representing the sky. Ancient astronomers pictured celestial objects as attached to it. |
Horizon | The Line Separating the sky from the ground |
Cosmic Horizon | The maximum distance one can see out into the universe at a given time. The horizon lies at a distance in lightyears approximately equal to the age of the universe in years. |
Model | A theoretical representation of some object or system |
Constellations | A grouping of stars on the night sky. Astronomers divide the sky into 88 constellations. |
Celestial Poles | An imaginary point on the celestial sphere directly above the Earth's North of South poles. |
