Question | Answer |
cell wall | The cell wall is a rigid layer of nonliving material that surrounds the cells of plants and some other organisms. |
cell membrane | In cells with cell walls the cell membrane is located just inside the cell wall, also the cell membrane forms the outside boundary that separates the cell from it's environment. |
nucleus | It acts as the "brain" of the cell. It helps produce proteins which is food. |
cytoplasm | The region between the cell membrane and nucleus. A clear, thick, gel-like fluid. |
mitochondria | They convert energy in food molecules to energy the cell can use to carry out functions. |
endoplasmic reticulum | Carry proteins and other materials from one part of a cell to another. |
ribosomes | Attached to some surfaces of the endoplasmic reticulum. Function as factories to produce proteins. |
Golgi body | They receive proteins and other newly formed Materials from the endoplasmic reticulum package them, distribute them to other parts of the cell. |
chloroplasts | Floating in the cytoplasm. Capture energy from sunlight and use it to produce food for the cell. |
vacuoles | Floating in the cytoplasm past the chloroplasts, are the storage areas of the cells. |
lysosomes | Are small round structures containing chemicals that break down certain materials in the cell. They break down materials in the cell. |
