Question | Answer |
Mouth | One of the places where air enters the body |
Nostrils (or nares) | Another place where air enters the body |
Nasal Passage | Where air gets filtered and moicened by mucus and heats air as it travels |
Cilia | Tiny hairs that protect the nasal passageway |
Pharynx | Back of throat, where the mouth and nasal passageway meet |
Epiglottis | tiny flap of tissue that covers the wind pipe |
Trachea | Windpipe, sweep out bad things before entering the throat |
Larynx | The upper most part of the trachea, the voice box that contain vocal cords that vibrate to make sounds when we speak. |
Bronchi | @ the end of the trachea, it divides left and right, branch into smaller parts |
Bronchioles | the tiniest bronchi, end in tiny air sacs (alveoli) |
Alveoli | air sacs, where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place, there are about 300-400 million alveoli |
Capillaries | Tiny blood vessels around the alveoli |
Lungs | Allow oxygen in the air to be taken into the body, and also enables us to get rid of co2 |
Diaphragm | The Muscle that pushes down when you breathe, creating space |
Respiration | The act of giving oxygen to our cells and waste removal of co2 |
Diffusion | Natural occurence of molicules moving from high concentration to low concentration, blood gas exchange |
Ventalation | Scientific term for respiration |
