Question | Answer |
Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space (volume) |
Physical Properties | The characteristics of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing the substance |
Mass | The measure of the amount of matter in an object |
Weight | The measure of the gravitational force acting on an object. The more gravity the more an object weighs. The less the gravity the less the object weighs |
Volume | Amount of space an object takes up; measured in liters or cubic centimeters. The formula for calculating the volume of a rectangular object is Length×Width×Height. |
Balance | A tool used to measure the mass of an object in grams (g) |
Spring Scale | A tool to measure force, such as the weight of an object in Newtons (N) |
Graduated Cylinder | A tool used to measure the volume of an object in milliliters (ml) |
Density | The amount of material (mass) an object has in a specific amount of space (volume). The formula for calculating density is Density |
Thermometer | A tool used to measure temperature |
Ruler | A tool used to measure length |
Milliliter | Metric unit for measuring volume |
Gram | Metric unit for measuring mass |
Newton | Metric unit for measuring a force such as weight. |
Celsius | Metric unit for measuring temperature |
Centimeter | Metric uit for measuring length |
