commutative property | A rule of multiplication and addition that states the order of the numbers does not change the answer. |
associative property | A rule of multiplication and addition that states the grouping of the numbers does not change the answer. |
distributive property | When one of the factors of a product is written as a sum, multiplying each addend before adding does not cahnge the factor. |
inverse operation | An opposite operation that can be used to solve for the unknown. |
