Term | Definition |
American National Standards Institute | This is the organization that schedules safety colors that mark physical hazards. |
Red | Fire fighting apparatus/protection |
Yellow | Caution- tripping or overhead hazards |
Black and white | Marks traffic ways and house keeping areas |
Purple | Radiation hazards |
Orange | Dangerous machinery parts that may cut, crush, or shock you. |
Blue | Machinery that is out of service or under repair. |
Green | Designates location of first aid supplies. |
CO (Carbon Monoxide) | This is a product of incomplete combustion. It is odorless, colorless, and poisonous. |
HC (Hydrocarbons) | Unburnt fuel. It is carcinogenic (cancer causing). |
NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen) | Product of high combustion chamber temperatures- above 2500 degrees. It is odorless, colorless, and poisonous. |
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) | Product of complete combustion. It is a greenhouse gas. |
