Term | Definition |
Step 1 | problem/question: develop a question or problem that can be solved through experimentation |
Step 2 | observation/research: make observations and research your topic of interest |
Step 3 | hypothesis: predict a possible answer to the problem or question |
Step 4 | experiment: develop and follow a procedure |
Step 5 | collect data/analyze results: modify the procedure you took if needed |
Step 6 | conclusion: include a statement that accepts/rejects your hypothesis |
Step 7 | communicate: be prepared to present or answer questions about your project |
hypothesis | an educated guess about the relationship between the independent and dependent variable |
independent (manipulative) | factor intentionally changed |
dependent (responding) | factor that may change as a result to the independent changing |
control | serves as standard of comparison (no treatment plan) |
constant | factor in experiment that stays the same |
trials | number of times he attempted the experimented |
