Term | Definition |
Habitat | an area where a species naturally lives, eats or reproduces. |
Adaptation | a change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment. |
Invasive Species | is a plant, fungus, or animal species that is not native to a specific location (an introduced species), and which has a tendency to spread to a degree believed to cause damage to the environment, human economy or human health. |
Threatened Species | a species likely, in the near future, to become an endangered species within all or much of its range. |
Endangered Species | animals or plants that are likely to become extinct without major help or support from others. |
Limiting Factor | something required by an animal to survive. If not present, the animal cannot survive or reproduce. |
Conservation | measures to protect and restore the natural world. |
Deforestation | he removal of plants and trees in an area on a massive scale which can have long term effects on the land and soil around the forest. |
Reforestation | the planting and growth of new trees. |
Ecosystem | relationships between the living and nonliving factors in the environment. |
Extinction | the loss of any species of this world. |
Vulnerable | likely to face injury or danger |
Environmentalist | a person who cares for the natural world and makes an effort to protect it, or raise awareness for its needs. |
Exploitation | the action of making use of and benefiting from resources. |
Requirement of Habitat | food, water, cover (shelter), space. |
