tissue | A group of cells that work together to carry out a particular task (job) in an organism |
organs | A group of tissues that perform a complex function (job) in a body. Examples: lung, heart, liver) |
organ systems | A group of organs that work together to perform a certain task (job). Examples: Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive) |
organelles | A tiny structure within a cell that performs a specific function (job) for that cell. They float in the cytoplasm of the cell. |
function | the “job” of specific cells, tissue, organs, or organ systems |
nucleus | a region in a cell that is surrounded by a membrane and contains genetic material |
cell wall | a stiff structure that surrounds and protects a cell, found only in plants |
organism | an individual living thing |
cytoplasm | The liquid inside of a living cell |
cell membrane | the boundary the surrounds a cell and controls which substances can enter or leave the cell |
