State of matter | A distinct form that matter takes, such as a solid, liquid or gas |
Solid | A firm, solidified object or material |
Liquid | Having consistency like water or oil, able to flow freely and fluid |
Gas | An airlike fluid substance which expands freely |
Atom | A source of nuclear energy |
Proton | A subatomic particle in all atom nuclei, with a positive electric charge |
Neutron | A particle with no electric charge, but is bigger than a proton |
Nucleus | A particle with a negative electric charge with no components or structure |
Electron | A subatomic particle in all atom nuclei with negative electric charge |
Electron cloud | Where electrons are when going around the nucleus of an atom |
Valence electron | An outer shell of an atom that can form a chemical bond |
