Science | The knowledge obtained by observing natural events and conditions in order to discover facts and formulate laws or principles that can be verified or tested |
Variable | A factor that changes in an experiment in order to test a hypothesis |
Technology | The application of science for practical purposes |
Scientific Theory | A system of ideas that EXPLAINS many related observations and is supported by a large body of evidence acquired through scientific investigation |
Natural Science | Science that tries to understand how "nature" or "the whole universe" behaves |
Independent Variable | A variable you can manipulate |
Social Science | Deals with individual and group human behavior |
Critical Thinking | Asking questions, making observations, and using logic to approach problems |
Hypothesis | A possible answer you can test, used in an experiment, before you do the test |
Dependent Variable | The variable in an experiment that you observe and measure |
Scientific Law | A DESCRIPTIVE statement or equation that reliably predicts events under certain conditions |
Data | The results of observing or an experiment |
Controlled Variable | Variables that are held constant so they do not influence the outcome of the experiment |
Model | A representation of an object or event that can be studied to understand the real object or event |
