What does the legislative branch do? | They are in charge of taxes and passing laws |
What does the executive branch do? | This branch has to veto or pass laws and command the military |
What does the judicial branch do? | The supreme court declares laws unconstitutional and deals with the trials of criminals. |
What are checks and balances and why are they important? | Checks and balances are when the different branches check the same law over and over so nobody has too much power. |
What is the Bill Of Rights and why was it added to the constitution? | The Bill of Rights are written down rights of everyone in america and was added because people wanted to be sure they had rights. |
What are three important amendments? | 1 = freedom of press religion and speech. 2 = the right to bear arms (own guns.) 4 = must have warrant to search a house. |
What does veto mean? | To regect |
What does democracy mean? | A government where citizens have the power to make political decisions. |
What does ratify mean? | to accept |
What does municipal mean? | A city or town |
What does amendment mean? | a change to the constitution |
What does unconstitutional mean? | something against the constitution |
What does federal mean? | national |
What is the preamble? | The beggining of the constitution |
