matter | Anything around us that has mass and volume. |
atom | The smallest amount of matter that still has all of the properties of that matter. |
molecule | A group of atoms that are chemically bonded together and act as a unit. |
compound | A substance that contains 2 or more different elements combined as a result of a chemical change. |
element | The simplest pure substances that are made up of only one kind of atom and have definite properties. |
physical change | Changes in matter that involve changes the appearance of the matter. |
chemical change | Changes in matter that involve changes in the atomic arrangement. |
nuclear change | Changes in matter that involve changes in the number of protons in the nucleus. |
Reactants | The substances that react together during a chemical reaction; what you have before a chemical reaction. |
Products | The substances that are formed during a chemical reaction; what you have after a chemical reaction. |
