excretion | the system in the body that collects wastes produced by cells and removes the wastes from the body. |
urea | a chemical that comes from the breakdown of proteins. |
kidneys | the two major organs of the excretory system that remove urea and other wastes from the blood. |
urine | a watery fluid that contains urea and other water. |
ureters | two narrow tubes that urine flows to from the kidneys. |
urinary bladder | a sack-like muscular organ that stores urine. |
urethra | small tube from which urine leaves the body. |
nephrons | tiny filtering factors that remove wastes from blood and produce urine. |
