Flaming | A hostile online argument that may contain foul language. |
Harassment | Words or actions intended to annoy, anger, or abuse a person because of a certain aspect of their personality or appearance. |
Cyberstalking | Repeated harassment using electronic devices that includes threats of harm, or that is highly intimidating and intrusive upon one’s personal privacy. |
Denigration | To speak demeaningly. |
Exclusion | Leaving somebody out of something on purpose. |
Trolling | Disingenuously posting information to entice genuinely helpful people to respond to. Done to provoke others. |
Impersination | Pretending to be someone else. |
Outing | The revelation of personal information without one's consent. |
Trickery | The practice of deception. |
IM | Stands for ‘Instant Message’. Real-time messages sent and received between two or more individuals over a network. |
Upstander | Used to identify people who are willing to stand up and take action in defense of others. |
Malicious | Intending to do harm. |
Crossing The Line | Taking something too far. |
Snapchat | A web based social media app that allows someone to send photos, text, etc. |
Anonymous | Not identified by name. |
Privacy | The state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by others. |
Posting | A single act of putting information on the internet, or the information itself. |
Settings | Customizable preferences on a website or any other mechanical thing. |
Digital Media | Any media that is encoded in a machine-readable format. |
Reputation | The beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something. |
Texting | Sending short messages through phone. |
Teasing | Make fun of or attempt to provoke an animal or person in a playful way. |
Empathy | The ability to understand and share the feelings of another. |
Criminal | A person who has committed a crime. |
Report | Give a spoken or written account of something from someone who has observed, done, or investigated it. |
App | Abbreviation for the word ‘application’. It is a piece of software primarily referring to one on a tablet, smartphone, or other touch-based devices. |
