Term | Definition |
One teach, one support | One teacher plans and provides instruction while the other teacher moves throughout the room offering individual support |
Parallel Teaching | Both teachers plan together but split the classroom into two groups to provide instruction |
Station Teaching | The classroom is divided into various learning centers with each teacher at one center; some centers are independent practice while both teachers provide small group instruction |
Alternative Teaching | One teacher provides instruction to most of the class while the other provides instruction in a small group setting |
Team Teaching | Planning and instruction is provided by both teachers taking turns to provide instruction |
accomodation | instruction and requirements on assignments remain the same, but supports are in place to deliver instruction such as more time on assignments or tests read orally |
modification | instruction and requirements on assignments are changed usually into smaller portions or to a lower standard |
inclusion | delivering instruction to special needs students in the general education classroom |
instructional technology | technology that aids in delivering instruction to students |
assistive technology | technology that is used to accommodate a student based on their individual needs; technology such as speech to text, computer aided instruction, braille keyboards, etc. |
