Area | Amount of surface an object has on any one side. (area = length x width) 1cm x 1cm=1cm2 |
Volume | the amount of space an object takes up. |
Liter | The Basic unit of volume in the metric system |
Meniscus | the curved surface of a liquid. |
Graduated Cylinder | A glass or plastic cylinder used to measure the volume of liquid. |

Balance | an instrument used to measure mass. |
Gram | The basic unit of mass in the metric system. |
Mass | The amount of material an object has. |
Standard Mass | A small object that is used with a balance to determine mass. |
Weight | The measure of gravitational pull on an object's material. |
Centimeter | A unit of length in the metric system equal to 1/100 of a meter. It takes 100 of these to make 1 meter. |
Millimeter | A unit of length in the metric system equal to 1/1000 of a meter. It takes 1000 of these to make 1 meter. |
