wave | a disturbance that moves through matter or space |
transverse wave | causes particles in matter to move back and forth at right angles |
compressional wave | causes particles to move back and forth along the same direction |
wavelength | the distance between one point on the wave and the same point moving in the same speed |
frequency | the number of wavelengths that pass by a point each second |
law of reflection | when waves reflect off surface |
rarefaction | the change in direction of a wave when it changes speed as it travels one material to an other |
diffraction | the bending around the waves around an object |
opaque | not abel to see through; solid |
translucent | allows some light to pass though |
transparent | clear; allows light to pass through |
reflect | to throw back the light or bounce off |
absorb | to take the light in or suck the light up |
transmit | pass through something |
loudness | it is the magnitude of sound |
pitch | the quality of a sound governed by the rate of vibrations producing it |
