Energy | The ability to do work or change. |
Work | Any time you exert force on an object that causes the object to move |
Power | The rate at which work is done. |
Kinetic Energy | The energy an object has due to its motion. |
Potential Energy | Energy that results from an object's shape or position. |
Gravitational Potential Energy (gpe) | Potential energy related to an object's height. |
Elastic Potential Energy (epe) | Potential energy that is associated with objects that can be compressed or stretched. |
Mechanical Energy | The form of energy associated with the motion, position, and shape of an object. |
Sound Energy | A disturbance that travels through a medium as a wave. |
Nuclear Energy | Energy that is stored in the nucleus of an atom |
Thermal Energy | The total kinetic and potential energy of the particles in an object. |
Electromagnetic Energy | A form of energy that travels through space in waves. |
Chemical Energy | Potential energy stored in chemical bonds. (What holds atoms together) |
Energy Transformation | A change from one form of energy to another. |
The Law of Conservation of Energy | The law that states that when one form of energy is transformed to another, no energy is lost in the process. |
