Term | Definition |
Continental Shelf | The extension of the continental crust under the ocean. |
Continental Slope | A steep drop off at the edge of the continental shelf. |
Mid-Ocean Ridge | A long chain of volcanic mountains found on the edge of plates. |
Rift Zone | A notch/cut or valley between the edges of the plates at a spreading plate boundary. |
Ocean Trench | A deep valley that forms when a ocean plate moves below another plate. |
Ocean Basin | The area locked between the edges of the oceanic crust and a mid-ocean ridge. |
