Term | Definition |
Trapezius LaTissimus Dorsi | Covers the upper and middle region of the back, helps in the movement of the shoulder and head, draws the arm backward and downward. |
Pectoralis Major | The muscle that extends from the shoulder down to the chest and helps the arms to move forward. |
Pectoralis Minor | located under the pectoralis major and extends over the shoulder to help |
Deltoid | Large, thick, triangular muscle which covers and shapes the shoulder. It's function is to lift and tun the arm |
Biceps | the two-headed muscle of the upper arm located on the front of the upper arm, it's function is to flex the elbow, if the palms are downward it also lifts the forearm. |
Triceps | three headed muscle that covers the entire back of the the upper arm, it's function is to EXTEND THE FOREARM |
Pronarots | turns the hand inward so the palm faces down |
Supinator | turns the hand outward so the palm faces up. |
Flexors | bend the wrist, draw the hand upward, and close the fingers into a fist |
Extensor | straightens the wrist, hand, and fingers to form a straight line |
Abductors | separate the fingers |
Adductors | draw the fingers together |
Opponets | located in the palm of the hand and bring the thumb toward the fingers allowing the grasping actions of the hands. |
Extensor Digitrum Longus | bends the foot up and extends the toes |
Peroneus Brevis | Originates on the lower surface of the fibula it bends the foot down and out |
Peroneus Longues | covers the outer side of the calf and invert the foot and turns it outward. |
Gastroenemius | is attached to the lower rear surface of the heel and pulls down the foot |
Soleus | Originates at the upper portion of the fibula and beds the foot down |
Striated Muscles | voluntary movement muscles that make up 45% of body weight ewsponsible for walking, running, jumping,throwing,lifting, or turning your head. |
Non-Striated Muscles | involuntary movement muscles that aid in body function. Found in the lungs, stomach, kidneys, and intestines |
Cardiac muscle | This involuntary muscle is found only in the heart. |
