mitosis | dividing of nuclear material |
interphase | longest part of cell cycle, when growth and development occur |
chromosome | structure in nucleus that contains DNA |
asexual reproduction | when a new organism is produced from only one parent organism |
prophase | nucleus prepares for cell division, chromatid pairs can be seen |
metaphase | two copies of each chromosome (chromatid pairs) line up in the center of the cell |
anaphase | copies seperate (centromere divides ) |
telophase | two groups of chromosomes are now at opposite ends of the cell and a new nucleus forms |
