Crystal | A solid that has regular repeating arrangement of atoms. |
Elements that form crystals. | Salt, Sugar, iron, Sulfide, and water. |
Compound | Made up of two or more different elements combined. |
Gemstones | Crystals people have considered more valuable than others. |
Acid | Sour,conducts electricity, ruins metal, and donates hydrogen ions. |
Base | The chemical opposite of an acid. |
Antacid | A base that works against the acid upsetting your stomach. Anti=against. |
PH | Potential for Hydrogen |
Chemical Reaction | When 2 or more chemical substances interact with each other and change into different chemical substances |
Physical reaction | Does not change the molecules - only changes the way it looks. |
Reactants | To make a chemical reaction - substances you start with (ie: borax, glue, water, vinegar, steel wool, coke, mentos, litmus paper...) |
Endothermic Reaction | Endo = within. Heat energy goes into the product. |
Exothermic Reaction | Exo = Greek word which means outside. So heat energy gets outside the molecules. |
