alliteration | repeated consonant sounds occurring at the beginning of words |
onomatopoeia | words that mimic (represent) sounds |
repetition | Repeated words, phrases or lines. Writers use this sound device to bring certain ideas, sounds or feelings to the readers’ attention. |
sensory details | language that appeals to the senses (seeing, touching, tasting, feeling, smelling) |
imagery | using words to paint a picture in the reader's mind |
