Term | Definition |
Electricity | The flow of electrons through a conductor |
Electrons | Have a negative charges; outside nucleus (shells) |
Protons | Have a positve charge; inside nucleus |
Neutrons | Have a neutral charge; inside nucleus |
The Law of Electric Charges | Like charges repel and opposite charges attract |
Electric Force | The area around a charged particle that can exert a force on another charged particle |
Static Electricity | An electrical charge that is built up in one place and is static (not moving) |
Electrical Discharge | The rapid movement of excess electrons from one place to another |
Conduction | Transfers the electrons from one object to another by direct contact |
Induction | When charges in an uncharged object are transfered without direct contact wit a charged object |

Photo Cell | Converts solar energy to electric energy |
Current | A wave of electricty |
Voltage | A measure of the pressure under which electricity flows |
Resistance | Dependent on the thickness and length, material, and the temperature |
AC/DC | Direct current; Alternating current |
Circuit | A path that charges follow |
Series circuit | A circuit in which all parts are connected in a single loop |
Parallel circuit | A circuit in which different loads are located on seperate branches |
Load | Any device that uses electrical current |
