Confucianism's impact on Chinacivil servants were given government jobs by their ability/ knowledge of passing a test on Confucianism and no longer just because of the power of their family. The government stressed respect, peace and order and setting a good example for others.
DaoismBelief in yin and yang that people on their own will balance the good and bad in life and rulers should not need to have many laws. For a government to follow this belief they should rule as little as possible and have few laws.
Daoism's impact on ChinaThis belief led to the warring states period at the end of the Zhou Dynasty and caused China to become very disorganized and chaotic.
Legalismthe belief that people are bad and must be told what to do and be punished if they break rules. In a government this belief would mean having strict laws, harsh punishments and keeping out ideas that the ruler does not like.
Legalism's impact on ChinaThis belief helped Emperor Qin re-unite China although not always by doing good things. It led to order in China and the standardization of laws, money, measurements, language and ideas by burning many books and records.
