new moon | when the moon is completely in darkness |
ocean tide | the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth |
high tide | a tide when its at its highest point |
low tide | a tide when its at its lowest point |
spring tide | tide just after a new or full moon |
neap tide | tide occurring at the first and third quarters of the moon |
lunar eclipse | An eclipse where the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth's shadow. |
