Test tube | A test tube is a thin glass tube closed at one end, used to hold small amounts of material for laboratory testing or experiments. |
Petri Dish | A petri dish is a shallow, circular, transparent dish with a flat lid, used for the culture of microorganisms. |
Period | A period is a row of elements in the periodic table arranged by atomic number, sharing the same number of energy levels. |
Group | A group is a column of elements in the periodic table having the same number of valence electrons, and similar chemical properties; also called chemical families. |
Nucleus | A nucleus is in the center of an atom and is made up of protons and neutrons. |
Proton | A proton is a positively-charged particle located in the nucleus of an atom. |
Electron | An electron is a negatively-charged particle found outside the nucleus of an atom, in electron cloud. |
Speed | Speed is the distance traveled by an object in a given amount of time. |
Velocity | Velocity is an object's speed and direction at a given instant. |
Acceleration | Acceleration is the change in a an object's speed or direction (its velocity) over time. |
Force | Force is a push or pull. |
Balanced Force | A balanced force occurs when the total of all forces on an object equals zero and the object's motion does not change. |
Unbalanced Force | An unbalanced force occurs when the net force of an object does not equal zero; results in the object changing motion. |
Direction | Direction is the course along which something or someone moves. |
Newton's 1st Law | An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by an unbalanced force. |
Newton's 2nd Law | The acceleration of an object depends upon the size of the mass and the force of the object. |
Newton's 3rd Law | For every action(or force), there is an equal and opposite reaction(or force). |
