| amendment | what amendment says |
| 2nd amendment | Each state has the right to create its own National Guard and each person has the right to own a gun |
| 1st amendment | freedom of speech, assembly, religion, press, and petition |
| 3rd amendment | You do not have to be forced to house soldiers in time of peace. |
| 4th amendment | You or your property cannot be searched or seized (taken) without a good reason |
| 5th amendment | You cannot be forced to testify against yourself. You cannot be tried twice for the same crime. Before you can be tried a Grand Jury must agree that there is enough reason to be tried |
| 6th amendment | a speedy and public trial with an impartial jury. The accused has the right to know what crime they are charged with and to have witnesses for their defense |
| 7th amendment | assures that an injured party can sue in civil court in cases involving disputes over money and property |
| 8th amendment | excessive bail shall not be required, also No cruel and unusual punishment |
| 9th amendment | Rights not specifically mentioned by the constitution should not be assumed not to exist |
| 10th amendment | reserved powers |
| 19th amendment | gives women the right to vote |
| 22nd amendment | presidential term limited to 2 terms(8 years) |
| 26th amendment | Lowered voting age from 21 to 18 |
