Question | Answer |
Claim | The author's stated position on an argument. |
Counter Claim | The author's acknolwedgment of the opposing position's claim. |
Textual Evidence | Evidence taken from the text to support a writer's answer or statement. |
Citation | A quoted or paraphrased information taken from another source to support the writer's statements and/or reasoning- these are always cited (giving the original author credit for his or her ideas) |
Response to Counter Claim | The writer's response to the opposing position. Made to refuse (weaken) the opposing argument. |

Inference | To make a prediction made during reading based on prior knowledge and gathered information by the reader. |
