Kyoto Protocol (1997)   A protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, focusing on combating global warming through the stabilization of the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The US has not signed the Kyoto Protocol.

Montreal Protocol (1987)   Details the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and aims at limiting the production of substances harmful to the ozone layer by reducing and phasing out the production of ozone-destroying compound life CFCs. Has been modified 7 times.

UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (1992)   Established to address climate change and stresses international cooperation and collaboration to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. The updated version of this convention is the Kyoto Protocol.
