Glaciers   Large ice flows which move slowly from higher to lower ground, found in cold areas of the world.

Plateau   A large mountain-like area with a flat top.

Mesa   A single mountain with a flat top (Mesas are smaller than plateaus).

Volcanoes   Mountains which can erupt, spewing molten rock and ash.

Valley   A lowland area formed by a river and surrounded by higher ground.

Oasis   A fertile spot in the desert where there is water and vegetation (plants).

Desert   A dry barren region that is usually sandy and without trees.

Forest   A large land area covered with trees.

Plain   A large open area, usually without any trees.
