| City | A human made feature where large numbers of people live and work. Cities grow from smaller villages and towns and offer: protection, entertainment, places to buy goods, and a structured government.

| Village | A small living center with homes, but without the services of a city.

| Glaciers | Large ice flows which move slowly from higher to lower ground, found in cold areas of the world.

| Plateau | A large mountain-like area with a flat top.

| Mesa | A single mountain with a flat top (Mesas are smaller than plateaus).

| Volcanoes | Mountains which can erupt, spewing molten rock and ash.

| Valley | A lowland area formed by a river and surrounded by higher ground.

| Oasis | A fertile spot in the desert where there is water and vegetation (plants).

| Desert | A dry barren region that is usually sandy and without trees.

| Forest | A large land area covered with trees.

| Plain | A large open area, usually without any trees.
