        Help!

Question
Answer
Preserved animal or plant or stone remains.   Fossils ex. Minerals can replace a piece of wood to create petrified wood, a type of fossil.
🗑
Body parts that are similar in origin and structure.   Homologous Structures ex. A human arm and a frog foreleg are very similar-so similar that they must have shared an ancestor. The arm and foreleg are Homologous structures.
🗑
Structures that don't have a function but are still there.   Vestigial Structures ex. Manatees, snakes, and whales don't have back legs, but they still have pelvic bones, like all animals with back legs. The pelvic bones have no discernible function, so they are vestigial structures.
🗑
The study of embryos and their development.   Embryology ex. At some point in their development, fish embryos, chicken embryos, and rabbit embryos are mostly the same, with a tail and pharyngeal pouches.
🗑
Similar _______ can show evolution.   DNA ex. Scientists compare DNA from living organisms to see if the DNA is similar, and if it is, then the organisms are most likely related.
