Electricity | form of energy called electrical energy. It comes from electrical charges from matter.
🗑
Matter | is made up of atoms
🗑
Repel | pushes apart. Any two objects with the same kind of charge.
🗑
Attract | move together. Any two objects with opposite charges.
🗑
Neutral | Objects that will attract either positive or negitive charges
🗑
Static electricity | is an electric charge that builds up on the surfact of an object. It can be either positive or negitive depending on the loss or gain of electrons.
🗑
Electric discharges | the movement of extra electrons from one object to another. Lightning is a huge electric discharge.
🗑
Electric current | the continous movement of electrons (don't stop)
🗑
Electrical circut | a "path" on which electrons move continously.
🗑
Conductor | a material which electrons move easily. copper is one of the best conductors.
🗑
Insulator | a material which electrons do not move easily. Rubber and Plastic are good examples.
🗑
Filament | a thin wire inside the glass bulb of a light bulb. It is made up of tongsten which is a conductor that throws off heat and light. It is very strong not to break or melt.
🗑
Open circut | break in the circut so electrons can't move.
🗑
Closed circut | no break in the circut and electrons can move.
🗑
tongsten | a conductor that throws off heat and light. It is very strong not to break or melt. Used to make the wire in a light bulb.
🗑
An example of a good conductor | Copper
🗑
An example of a good insulator | Rubber and Plastic
🗑
An example of a huge electric discharge | Lightning.
