CAUSES
TERMINAL SWING IMPACT   insufficient knee friction, too much tension in the extension aid, pt feels that the knee will buckle, forcefull knee flexion
🗑
FOOT ROTATION AT HEEL STRIKE   prosthetic foot is malaligned, stiff heel cushion, stiff plantar flexion bumper
🗑
SWING PHASE WHIPS   socket is rotated, knee bolt is rotated, foot is malaligned
🗑
FOOT SLAP   heel cushion too soft, PF bumper too soft,
🗑
UNEVEN STEP LENGTH   socket discomfort or poor alignment, hip flexion contracture, hip instability
🗑
HIGH HEEL RISE   inadequate knee friction, too little tension in the extension aid
🗑
LUMBAR LORDOSIS DURING STANCE   insufficient support from anterior or posterior walls, painful ischial weight bearing, hip flexion contracture, weak hip extensors or abdominals
🗑
FORWARD FLEXION DURING STANCE   unstable knee unit, short ambulatory aids, hip flexion contracture
🗑
LATERAL TRUNK BENDING DURING STANCE   low lateral wall, short prosthesis, high medial wall, weak abductors, abductor contracture, hip pain, short amputation limb
🗑
VAULTING - RISE UP ON SOUND LIMB   too long prosthesis, inadequate suspension, socket too small, prosthetic foot placed in too much PF, too little knee flexion
🗑
ABDUCTED GAIT   crotch or medial wall discomfort, long prosthesis, low lateral wall or malalignment, tight hip abductors
