What are Enzymes?   An enzyme is a special protein produced by the body, it helps break down nutrients into forms that the body can use.

What is Sugar (glucose)?   Sugar gives the body energy, it is a simple carbohydrate.

What are Cells?   Cells are the basic unit of life.

What is the Esophageal sphincter?   A ring of muscle that helps keep food that has been swallowed where it should be, in the stomach.

What are Carbohydrates?   Carbohydrates are used for fuel, the basic carbohydrates are sugar and starch.

What is Saliva?   Saliva is produced by salivary glands, it helps moisten food to make it easier to digest.

What is Mechanical Digestion?   Mechanical digestion is the tearing, grinding and mixing that goes on in your mouth while you're chewing food.
