Help!
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| heart characteristics: | size of fist, hollow, cone-shaped, weight 250-300 grams
🗑
| mediastinum | has heart, great vessels and trachea
🗑
| heart extends 5" from | 2nd rib to 5th intercoastal space
🗑
| Heart base | points to R shoulder
🗑
| heart apex | points to L hip
🗑
| PMI point of maximal intensity | bet 5 & 6 ribs just below L ninny where apex touches chest wall
🗑
| pericardium | dbl wall sac, surrounds heart, has 2 layers
🗑
| 2 layers of pericardium | superficial fibrous pericardium & serous pericardium
🗑
| superficial fibrous pericardium is dense CT & has 3 functions: | protects, anchors & prevents overfilling w/blood
🗑
| serour pericardium: | thin layer under fibrous layer & has 3 sections
🗑
| 3 serous layers are: | parietal layer, pericardial cavity & visceral layer
🗑
| parietal layer is directly | connected to the fibrous layer
🗑
| pericardial cavity lies bet | the two serous membrane layers & has a thin layer of lub fluid, produced by serous embranes
🗑
| visceral layer AKA epicardium | covers hearts surface -inner
🗑
| 3 layers of heart wall: | epicardium, myocardium & endocardium
🗑
| epicardium | superficial layer, visceral layer of pericardium & has fat.
🗑
| myocardium | mostly cardiac muscle, bulk of heart; interlaced w/fibrous CT, which weaves it into interconnected bundles (fibrous skeleton of heart)
🗑
| endocardium | endothelium over thin layer CT. lines chambers and covers CT skeleton of valves
