Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.
        Help!

Question
Answer
How does an atom relate to an element, molecule, and compound?   Elements are more than one of the same atom. Molecules are a cluster of different atoms bonded together. Compounds are made of two or more molecules.
🗑
Why are atoms neutral?   Atoms are neutral because the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons.
🗑
What are some of the trends you find in the columns of the periodic table?   Trends include: the number of valence electrons are the same, they gain one more shell each time you move down, and the properties are the same.
🗑
Given the information that sulfur is in the oxygen family, it has 6 valence electrons, oxygen has 8 electrons, and it is the second element down (columns), how many electrons does sulfur have?   Sulfur has 16 electrons.
🗑
Why do compounds form and/or what does every atom want to become?   Atoms want to have full valence shells or look like the noble gases.
🗑
What is the maximum amount of electrons allowed in the first three shells?   The maximum number in the first shell is two, the second shell is eight, and the third shell is eight.
🗑
What three things can elements be classified as?   The three things are metals, non metals, and metalloids.
🗑
Is an atom the smallest particle ever?   No, it is not.
🗑
How many electrons are found in the outer shell of an element of the carbon family?   4 electrons

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
