Regions   areas of uniqe characteristics. Three types: Formal, functional, and perceptual.

Formal Regions   Homogeneous or uniform. Frequently used to outline governmental, phsical, cultural, and economic areas.

Functional Regions   Defined by a particular set of activites or interactions.

Perceptual Regions   Also known as vernacular regions. Constructed by peoples perceptions, therefore they vary from person to person.

Possibilism   The natural environment merely serves to limit the range of choices available to a culture.

Environmental Determinism   Human behaivor, individually and collectively is affected by the physical evironment.
