| Investigación Cientifica | La Investigación es un proceso que, mediante la aplicación del método científico, procura obtener información relevante y fidedigna, para entender, verificar, corregir o aplicar el conocimiento.

| Investigación Básica | Comienza y se mantiene en el marco teórico, tiene como finalidad formular nuevas teorías y/o modificar las existentes y persigue el progreso de los conocimientos científicos o filosóficos, pero sin contrastarlos con ningún aspecto práctico.

| Investigación Aplicada | Denominada práctica, guarda íntima relación con la investigación básica, depende de los descubrimientos y avances de esta última, enriqueciéndose de los mismos, con utilización y consecuencias prácticas de los conocimientos.

| Investigación Documental | Se realiza apoyándose en fuentes de carácter documental, se basa en la consulta de libros, artículos o ensayos de revistas y periódicos, documentos que se encuentran en los archivos, como cartas, oficios, circulares, expedientes, etcétera.

| Investigación de Campo | Se presenta mediante la manipulación de una variable externa no comprobada, en condiciones rigurosamente controladas, con el fin de describir de qué modo, o por qué causas se produce una situación o acontecimiento particular.

| Investigación Experimental | Oe encuentra dirigida a modificar la realidad con el propósito de crear el fenómeno mismo que se indaga y así poder observar los resultados, al tiempo que procura evitar, que otros factores intervengan en la observación.
