Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.

Term
Definition
Diffusion   Movement of particles from a high concentration to a low concentration. It will eventually even out.
🗑
Plasma membrane   A flexible boundary between the cell and it's environment. (This also is called cell membrane)
🗑
Selective Permeability   Is accomplished by the size of the molecules and the structure of the membrane.
🗑
Cell wall   Is a rigid structure located outside the plasma membrane that provides additional support and protection. Found in plant cells, not animal cells!
🗑
Nucleus   Contains DNA, blueprint or instructions manual and it also manages cellular functions (protects DNA)
🗑
Nucleolus   Is the large dark structure inside of the nucleus. This structure produces ribosomes.
🗑
Ribosomes   Produces proteins based on the instructions from the DNA. (DNA is found inside the nucleus)
🗑
Cytoplasm   Is a clear, gelatinous fluid inside of the cell. Helps to move materials around the cell and also helps move waste products. (Keeps everything in place)
🗑
(er) Endoplasmic Reticulum   Synthesizes (makes) either proteins or lipids (fats) (depending on the part of the reticulum.) Folded on top of itself. Folding allows the organelle to have more surface and take up less space. The more surface the more area to create proteins or lipids (
🗑
Rough (er) endoplasmic reticulum   (RER) creates proteins. It appears "rough" because of all the ribosomes attached to it. (Think sandpaper)
🗑
Smooth (er) endoplasmic reticulum   (SER) creates lipids (fats). It appears "smooth" because there are no ribosomes attached to it. (Remember slippery and smooth)

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
